Day 1: New Zealand to Hong Kong:
Saturday 27 July:
We are picked up from our home address in the greater Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch areas and taken to the airport. We join our fellow travellers and Maggie our Tour Director at Auckland International airport. Here we board our flight on Cathay Pacific and journey through to the exciting city of Hong Kong. We are met on our evening arrival and taken to our central hotel.
Day 2: Hong Kong (B)
Hong Kong—where old meets new. We begin our tour with a visit to the famous fishing village of Aberdeen to see the “floating” community. We visit Stanley market where you can pick up some bargains and then ride up to Victoria Peak for a panoramic view of Hong Kong and the surrounding islands. This afternoon we have left free for you to enjoy some personal sightseeing or shopping. Tonight we have a late check out from our hotel and travel to the airport for our direct flight to Dublin.
Day 3: Depart Hong Kong. (D)
An early morning arrival in Dublin . We are met and taken to our central hotel in Dublin, our home for the next three nights. A free day to relax and refresh yourselves after the flight. Tonight join Maggie and your fellow travellers for an early dinner at your hotel.
Day 4 Dublin (B)
After breakfast this morning we are free to enjoy Dublin at our own pace. We have included Hop on Hop off Bus passes which will be valid for two days. So take your time and enjoy everything this wonderful city has to offer.. Visit Trinity College’s campus to view the 8th Century illuminated manuscript of the Book of Kells. Perhaps try a drop of Guinness at the Guinness storehouse. This evening is free to try out one of the local pubs for dinner. Maggie will offer suggestions.
Day 5: Dublin (BD)
Utilise your Hop on Hop off bus pass to make the most of this day in Dublin. Maggie will help with any extra sightseeing you might like to enjoy. Tonight join her at the hotel for dinner.
Day 6: Blarney, Killarney (BD)
Thursday 01 August:
Enjoy the countryside as you travel to Kildare. Here visit the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens. Learn about horse breeding and see some of the valuable animals before touring the lovely Japanese Gardens, considered the best in Europe. They were laid out in 1908 and represent the “life of man”. Stop to photograph the stately church ruins atop of the Rock of Cashel, which rises high above the surrounding plain. We enjoy a cuppa and homemade scones at a local farm before travelling via Mallow to the scenic Killarney.
Day 7: Ring of Kerry (BD)
Friday 02 August:
A wonderful start to the day with a leisurely Jaunting car ride through Killarney National park to Ross Castle with views of Loch Leane, the largest of Killarney’s famous lakes. We then re-join our coach to begin our Ring of Kerry Drive where every bend in 100 miles of road reveals breath-taking views of mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. We visit the Bog Village and see what life was like in Ireland during the tough Depression years. Enjoy an Irish Coffee before continuing our journey. This evening we head to Kate Kearney’s Cottage, nestled at the entrance to the world famous Gap of Dunloe. Here we enjoy dinner and entertainment at this 150 year old family run Establishment.
Day 8: Galway (BD)
Saturday 3 August:
Today we travel north and take a ferry ride across the River Shannon Estuary. View the awesome Cliffs of Moher rising to heights of 700 feet above the wild Atlantic swells. Pass through the rounded limestone hills of the Buren and around Galway Bay to Galway.
Day 09: Derry (BD)
Sunday 04 August
This morning after breakfast we continue North through the pilgrimage town of Knock. We travel around Donegal Bay and through the majestic and rugged scenery of Donegal to Derry. We take a guided walk around the medieval walls which completely encircle the old part of the city.
Day 10: Giants Causeway/Belfast (BD)
Monday 05 August
Today we visit the incredible Giants Causeway. This impressive area of hexagonal columns was formed 60 million years ago by cooling lava!! We then continue on to Belfast where we overnight.
Day 11: Titanic Edinburgh (BD)
Tuesday 06 August
This morning we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Belfast before heading to the new state-of-the art Titanic Exhibition. Time here to enjoy a walk around this amazing attraction that is devoted to the development and construction of the ill fated liner. At the time of her launching she was the largest man-made object ever moved. Late afternoon we join our flight for the short trip to Scotland. On arrival we are met and taken to our hotel (3 nights).
Day 12: Britannia/Tattoo (BD)
Wednesday 07 August
After a hearty Scottish breakfast join our coach for the short drive to Leith, home of the Royal Yacht Britannia. This magnificent ship has hosted some of the most famous people in the world, but, first and foremost was the home of Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family. Follow in their footsteps as you stroll the decks and explore the Sun Lounge where Her Majesty would enjoy afternoon tea, the Grand State Dining room, the Queen’s bedroom, Crew quarters and the engine room. We have left the afternoon free to enjoy Edinburgh and its sights. We have included a ticket on the “Hop on Hop off” bus so you can visit all the main attractions in your own time and still fit in some shopping on famous Princes St. Tonight a real highlight: We have tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo. Please note that the performance is at 9.00 p.m. Music, dance and precision display with the Mass Pipes & Drums, the bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, cultural troupes, singers and the poignant refrain of the lone Piper against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. Truly a night to remember!
Day 13: Edinburgh (B)
Thursday 08 August
A day at leisure after your late night. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and then your hop on hop off bus ticket is valid 24 hours so you can continue to use this. Free evening for dinner—Maggie will be able to help with some suggestions.
Day 14: Gretna Green/Lakes District (BD)
Friday 09 August
Drive to the beautiful Spa town of Moffat where we visit the Woollen Mill to check out the family tartan!!. Then before we cross the border we visit Gretna Green where young couples ran away to get married. We journey on into England and to the beautiful Lake District—our home for the next two nights.
Day 15: Rails, Tails & Sails (BD)
Saturday 10 August
This morning we visit Grasmere, the home of Wordsworth from 1799 until 1808. He called this area “the loveliest spot that man hath ever known”. We enjoy a visit to the World of Beatrix Potter attraction before joining our boat for a scenic lake cruise from Bowness followed by a Steam train journey on the Lake Districts’ only standard Gauge preserved railway. We arrive back to our hotel in time to relax before dinner.
Day 16: York (BD)
Sunday 11 August
More lovely scenery today as we make a stop at Hawes, famous for its cheeses and the art of Rope-making!! Then thru Aysgarth with its beautiful waterfalls and on thru Ripon and the garden city of Harrogate to York, one of the great medieval cities of Europe, its history spanning 2000 years. We enjoy a three night stop here. Join Maggie for dinner tonight.
Day 17: Free day (B)
Monday 12 August
After breakfast the day is yours to enjoy. Maggie will do a walking tour with you to familiarise you with the area if you would like. We are not far from the city centre so you might like to explore the famous “shambles”, Britain’s best preserved medieval Street. The name “Shambles” comes from the Saxon “fleshammels”, which means “the street of the butchers” as it was here that the city’s butchers were located. It is now one of York’s premier shopping streets and was voted Britain’s most picturesque Street in 2010. York is also home to the largest gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe, York Minster. You might like to visit the Jorvic Viking Centre where “time cars” take you on a journey back in time with sights, smells and sounds as they would have been in AD948. Tonight perhaps join your escort for a “ghost tour” of the city…..(own expense).
Day 18: Whitby/Castle Howard (BLD)
Tuesday 13 August
Today we travel to the coast to visit the fishing village of Whitby. Whitby is one of the most interesting towns on the British Coast. A muddle of medieval streets, a range of interesting pubs and the silhouette of the Abbey which seems to float over the town. You can see how it inspired Bram Stoker’s take of Dracula! It was in Whitby that 18 year old James Cook started his apprenticeship with a local ship owner. Then yet another highlight. We visit one of the most beautiful Castle’s in England—Castle Howard! It is astonishing to think that in 1699 when John Vanbrugh designed it he was a playwright turned amateur architect and this was his first commission. We enjoy lunch here before time to view this 18th century palace with its unique collections of statuary, furniture, ceramics and paintings. All this surrounded by a breath-taking mix of sweeping grounds and spectacular gardens. Brideshead Revisited was filmed on location here. We return to York late afternoon in time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 19: Chester/Cotswolds (BD)
Wednesday 14 August
We use the motorway this morning to get to Chester with time to enjoy one of the most well preserved Medieval cities in England. The black and white “magpie” buildings are dazzling to look at and the two tiered shops called “the Rows” have been fully restored. The walls which surround the City of Chester today are mainly medieval but in parts are built on top of older Roman Walls. The walls are the most complete in the UK and can take a while to walk around. We continue on via Shrewsbury to our home in the Cotswolds for the next three nights, Morton-in-Marsh.
Day 20: Bath (BD)
Thursday 15 August
A day for the camera’s today! We make our way through the Cotswolds to Bath. It is here where the Romans first developed a complex of baths and a temple in this area of springs and mineral waters. Today however, Bath is just as famous for its glorious Georgian Architecture which has won it a World Heritage site status from UNESCO. We join our guide here who will share their local knowledge. After lunch and some free time we re-join the coach and return to our hotel via some of the pretty Cotswold villages. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 21: Shakespeare & Churchill (BD)
Friday 16 August
Another day of beautiful scenery with a photo stop at the pretty thatched farmhouse of Anne Hathaway. We then journey into Stratford-on-Avon, renowned as the birthplace of Shakespeare. Here we are joined by our local guide who will share their knowledge of this historic city with you from the comfort of our coach. Then its on to Blenheim Palace, one of Europe’s largest palaces and the birthplace of Winston Churchill and Britain’s answer to Versailles, set in lovely park like grounds. We enjoy time to visit both the house and gardens before returning through more beautiful Cotswold villages to our hotel to join Maggie for dinner.
Day 22: Devon (BD)
Saturday 17 August
An early start today as we travel via the spectacular Cheddar Gorge (yes Cheddar is the village that gave its name to that wonderful cheese AND it is still made there today) You can visit the cheese factory if time permits. We then travel on via Taunton to Exeter packed with exciting history ranging from Exeter Cathedrals magnificent Gothic architecture to the mysterious mediaeval underground passages (built to house the pipes that brought clean drinking water into Exeter). We drive through the city to the Quayside where we have time to enjoy an ice-cream. Travelling on the edge of Dartmoor National Park we travel through to Tavistock our home for the next three nights. Enjoy diner at the hotel tonight.
Day 23: Fowey/Eden project (BD)
Sunday 18 August
This morning we take a leisurely drive through to the delightful fishing village of Fowey. With its picturesque winding streets, historic buildings, quaint shops and pubs and all situated on a lovely harbour and estuary. Maggie will walk you into the village and give you some background into the history. Time to enjoy a wander before re-joining our coach for another real highlight. We visit the fantastic “Eden Project” with its amazing Biomes (domes). Here will see the worlds largest rainforest in captivity with steamy jungles and waterfalls, stunning garden displays. Perhaps stroll past lemon and olive trees, vines and perfumed herbs on a journey through the warm temperate regions of the world taking in the Mediterranean, South Africa and California in the Mediterranean Biome. We return to our hotel mid afternoon. Time enjoy a drink in the cosy bar or have a walk around the village of Tavistock.
Day 24: Dartmoor National Park. (B AT D)
Monday 19 August
We join our coach and travel to Totnes situated in the rolling hills of South Devon. Its stunning location on one of Britain’s most beautiful and historically significant waterways, The River Dart. The Main street is reputed to have more listed buildings per head of population than any other town in Britain. We then head in to the Dartmoor National Park. Famous for its Prison, the incredible wildlife and where the filming of the Spielberg blockbuster, Warhorse took place. An area of Moorland protected by National Park status, it covers 954 square kilometres. It is capped with many exposed granite hilltops known as Tors and you might see some of the Dartmoor Wild Ponies during our drive. We will enjoy a gorgeous Devon Cream Tea with that yummy clotted cream before heading back to our hotel. Apparently whilst arguments still ensue, the cream goes on first!!.
Day 25: Salisbury/London (B)
Tuesday 20 August
Today we head through to the city of Salisbury. Here we visit Britain’s finest 13th century Cathedral with Britain’s tallest spire (123m/404ft). Also home of one of the finest of 4 surviving original Magna Carta (1215). Then we join the motorway for our journey into London where we say farewell to our Coach driver and spend the next two nights at our central London Hotel. Time to enjoy a show in those wonderful London theatres, visit the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace. There are a myriad of things to see and do in this most exciting of cities.

We have the day to enjoy Hong Kong and to perhaps shop for those bargains before we are picked up from the hotel and taken back for our evening departure. We have kept our rooms until departure for anyone who would like to relax before leaving for the airport.

We arrive in Auckland just before lunch. We will be met by the Supreme Team and taken back to our home addresses or assisted with check in for our domestic flights.

Breakfasts are hearty affairs with a selection of bacon, egg, toasts & jams to start your day off.
On our coach journey we stop each morning and afternoon, when the schedule allows, in a scenic or historic spot that your courier and driver choose for a complimentary tea or coffee together with a biscuit or cake. We have included lunch at Castle Howard. Lunches are otherwise own arrangements. Dinners are served in the dining rooms of our hotels.
We have left some nights free for you to enjoy dinner at your own expense in one of the local restaurants or delightful village pubs. Your Tour Manager is always there to offer advise about where to eat.

Our coach is a quality touring coach with panoramic windows and on board toilet. Our coach driver comes with a wonderful safety record and a knowledge of all the off beat country lanes we travel. He will take care of your suitcase whilst you are on tour. There is a no smoking policy on board the coach, however regular stops are made on travelling days.
We reserve the right to alter or change the itinerary if circumstances beyond our control deem this necessary.
The tour has a maximum number of 22 passengers on each tour. A minimum number of 12 passengers is required for the tour to depart.
We limit the baggage to one suitcase per person 30 kilograms maximum on Cathay Pacific flights. 26 Kilos maximum on your Easyjet flight) . This is because of the internal flight to Edinburgh.
