Day 1: Auckland/Brisbane (D) Tuesday 17 Sept We are picked up from our home address in the greater Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch areas (within 25k radius of the city centre) and taken to the airport to join our Tour Manager and fellow travellers. Depart Auckland on our short flight to Brisbane. On arrival we are met and transferred to our hotel where we stay for the next two nights. Join Vikki this evening for dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Brisbane (B,D) Wednesday 18 Sept Today is at leisure to enjoy Brisbane and its environs. Stroll through the lush surrounds of the subtropical South Bank Parklands or browse round the shops at Queen Street Mall in the heart of the city. Enjoy dinner again at the hotel.
Day 3: Brisbane/Toowoomba (B,PL,D) Thursday 19 Sept After breakfast, join our coach and travel the scenic route to Toowoomba. En route we’ll call into the Preston Peak Winery and then stop for a lovely picnic lunch before arriving at the centrally located Potters Boutique Hotel. Relax in the quality surrounds of one of Toowoomba’s newest properties and join our host tonight for some delicious in house dining at their popular restaurant. Stay Potters Boutique Hotel, Toowoomba for the next five nights.
Day 4: Parks & Gardens (B,PL,D) Friday 20 Sept Follow an avenue of Hopp Pine and Southern Queensland Kauri to Picnic Point Lookout. Breathe in spectacular views over the Scenic Rim and to perhaps sample their iconic violet ice cream only available over Carnival. Tour Ju Raku-en Garden, Australia’s largest and most traditionally designed Japanese strolling garden and enjoy a picnic lunch. Visit specially selected exhibition and competition gardens. Tonight we’ll dine at Inbound Restaurant located in the 120 year old Railway Refreshment Rooms at Toowoomba Railway Station.
Day 5: Grand Parade Day (B,L,D) Saturday 21 Sept This morning, experience a riot of colour as you wander between the rows of beautiful floral garden beds at Queens Park Botanic Gardens. Take in this expansive sea of flowers from the viewing platform. See the Hanging Basket Display at the Cobb+Co Museum, just a short stroll from Queens Park.
Enjoy lunch at the Cobb+Co Café and a tour of the National Carriage Collection. Transfer to the CBD and settle into your reserved seat for the Grand Central Floral Parade as it winds its way through the heat of the city. See street performers, carnival characters, stilt walkers and stunning floral floats. Enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight.
Day 6: Highfields Touring (B,PL,D) Sunday 22 September This morning we’ll take a drive north along the picturesque New England Highway to the highland village of Highfields. Visit specially selected exhibition and competition gardens.
We then enjoy a picnic lunch at Spring Bluff Railway while listening to the Big Band. Return to the hotel later this afternoon. This evening we have a delightful torchlight tour of Laurel Bank Park with a curator and enjoy Champagne & nibbles. Dinner tonight will be at the beautiful Gips Restaurant located in one of Toowoomba’s most historical Buildings, Clifford House.
Day 7: Country Stories (B,L,D) Monday 23 Sept This morning we’ll follow a lovely country drive to heritage listed Glengallan Homestead, once described as “the finest house in the colony”.
This sandstone mansion boasts views from the fertile Glengallan Valley to Cunningham’s Gap in the Great Divide. Our next stop is Allora, home to the “Mary Poppins House” the childhood home of author PJ Travers. Enjoy a country pub lunch at the Rudd’s Pub in Nobby. Best known for its links to the classic Dad & Dave stories.
After lunch we head back to your accommodation with time to relax or explore the nearby Grand Central Shopping Plaza. Tonight out Farewell Dinner will be in a restored railway carriage at DownSteam Tourist Railway & Museum.
Day 8: Toowoomba/Brisbane/NZ (B) Tuesday 24 September Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and late checkout from our accommodation today. We will travel back via the Warrego Highway to Brisbane Airport for our return flight to New Zealand. On arrival transport to your home address will be provided anywhere in the greater Auckland/Wellington or Christchurch areas within a 25k radius of the city.

Mobility & Fitness
While our tours cater for passengers 60+ this tour is unsuitable for passengers with wheelchairs/Mobility scooters. Please be aware than garden visits will include walking on uneven ground. You need to be able to climb steps, be able to board and disembark coach unassisted and walk up to 400m.

Maggie is an experienced tour guide having spent seven years guiding throughout Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, Egypt and Morocco when she was ‘younger’! Maggie then came back to NZ and has worked in the travel industry here for over 25 years and has escorted numerous travel agent and media trips to places such as China, Las Vegas, Bangkok, Norfolk Island, India, Ireland and the UK, USA and Asia (to name just a few ) in her roles within the travel Industry. She was the Manager of the British Tourist Authority in Auckland for nine years and then with worked with Marriott International Hotels for a further nine years. Maggie loves travel, and loves to show people wonderful places. She has a great sense of humour and likes to ensure that people not only experience all the wonderful sights, but that they have a fun time as well.
Visitors to our office will always get the “once over” from Charlie who is our Head of Security.
Charlie is a Bichon Frise and loves coming to work with Terri each day. When he is not on guard he can be found sleeping under Terri’s desk.
Charlie is probably the most popular member of staff!!
