Saturday 14 : Wellington (D)
We are picked up from our home anywhere in the greater Auckland, Tauranga or Christchurch areas and taken to the airport to join our short flight to Wellington. On arrival we are met by our coach and transferred to our 4 star central Hotel—Novotel Wellington.
The remainder of the day is at leisure. Wellington is a compact city with a compelling mix of culture, history, nature and cuisine. The hotel is a stones throw from the iconic Cable car and right in amongst the main shopping area. Perhaps a walk along the waterfront or a coffee in Cuba St. Join your Tour Manager for dinner at the hotel tonight.
Sunday 15: Wellington Highlights /High Tea & the NZ Portrait Museum. (B– High Tea—Dinner)
This morning after a delightful buffet breakfast we join our coach and tour Manager and enjoy the sights and sounds of this lovely city. We include a drive up Mt Victoria for fabulous views, Oriental Bay with its beautiful beachfront properties nestled in the Hillside, A drive past the famous Beehive and Parliament Building and the Wellington Botanic Gardens. We visit the New Zealand Portrait Gallery on the Waterfront where we encounter stories of New Zealanders told through portraiture. We then head to the quirky QT hotel. As we walk through the foyer we can enjoy the art works and Sculptures on display before we head into the renowned Hippopotamus restaurant where we will enjoy an elegant High Tea with bubbles in a somewhat Surrealist atmosphere. (please note we are able to cater for Gluten Free or vegetarian options. No other dietary requirements can be catered for). Tonight join your Tour Manager for dinner at the hotel.
Monday 16: Dali exhibit (BLD)
We enjoy breakfast before heading to Te Papa. This is your once in a lifetime chance to see masterpieces from Rotterdam’s Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Wellington. 180 fascinating pieces spanning from the 1920s to the 1960s and including work by all the major surrealist artists. The most prominent artist is Salvador Dali whose works include exquisitely fine paintings and print making, playful sculptures and design. We will be able to see iconic surrealist works such as Dali’s Mae West lips sofa (1938). We enjoy hearing about some of the pieces from our guide before enjoying some time on our own to reflect. We have also got time to see other exhibits at this wonderful Museum.
Tonight join your Tour Manager for your special Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Tuesday 17: (B)
Another delicious buffet breakfast awaits us this morning and then time to enjoy some personal sightseeing or shipping. We will be asked to check out this morning but luggage will be stored at the hotel. Early afternoon we will be picked up from the hotel and taken back to the airport for our short flight home. On arrival at our homeport we will be met and taken back to our home addresses in the greater Auckland, Tauranga or Christchurch areas.

Maggie is an experienced tour guide having spent seven years guiding throughout Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, Egypt and Morocco when she was ‘younger’! Maggie then came back to NZ and has worked in the travel industry here for over 25 years and has escorted numerous travel agent and media trips to places such as China, Las Vegas, Bangkok, Norfolk Island, India, Ireland and the UK, USA and Asia (to name just a few ) in her roles within the travel Industry. She was the Manager of the British Tourist Authority in Auckland for nine years and then with worked with Marriott International Hotels for a further nine years. Maggie loves travel, and loves to show people wonderful places. She has a great sense of humour and likes to ensure that people not only experience all the wonderful sights, but that they have a fun time as well.
I am Benson and take my job as Head of Security very seriously. My mum was a maltese terrier and my dad a good looking toy poodle. I can be bribed with biscuits or my favourite “smackos” treats.
I love spending time in the office with my Mum and Aunty Vikki.
