Day 1: New Zealand to Sydney (D)
Tuesday 26 May 2020
Today we are picked up from our home addresses anywhere in the greater Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch areas and taken to the airport to join our short flight to Australia. On arrival in the cosmopolitan city of Sydney we are met and transferred to our accommodation at the centrally located Shangri la hotel. Tonight we join our escort for dinner at the hotel. Vivid Sydney is the largest event of its kind in the world bringing together artist, designers and manufacturers from all over the world to illuminate, interpret and transform Sydney’s urban spaces into a grand outdoor gallery. Fabulous displays light up the night throughout the city & harbour and we are right in the midst of it all.
Day 2: Sydney (BHTD)
Wednesday 27 May 2020
A leisurely start to the day with a delicious buffet breakfast. We then join our coach to enjoy the sights of Sydney. We drive through the historic Rocks area, cross Sydney Harbour Bridge and have time for a stroll along picturesque Manly Beach. We then head Mosman and the historic Gunners Barracks which was constructed in 1873 and is of National Significance. The Barracks were excavated into the cliffside and linked by tunnels forming part of a network of fortifications to protect Sydney Harbour from attack. Enjoy a glass of bubbles and high tea and check out the magnificent views. Time to relax before a light dinner at the hotel. You might like to take a walk this evening to view one of the Vivid Light Displays.
Day 3: Sydney (BD)
Thursday 28 May 2020
We have left today free for you to enjoy your own individual sightseeing today. We have tours to the Blue Mountains or the Hunter Valley that can be booked prior to departure (own expense). We enjoy dinner at the hotel before joining Maggie on an optional guided walk around some of the amazing light installations in the city. (This will be a leisurely walk at your own pace and you will have the opportunity to finish when you are ready and take a cab back to the hotel if you prefer—comfortable flat walking shoes recommended).
Day 4: Sydney (BSD)
Friday 29 May 2020
Today a day to enjoy a visit to the markets or perhaps the Botanic Gardens. Maggie will be there to offer suggestions. Tonight we enjoy a Dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour as we take in the magnificent lights lining the foreshore. This is a night for the cameras and you will be enthralled by the stunning displays as you enjoy a lovely dinner along with quality Australian wines or soft drinks. The perfect way to spend our last evening in Sydney.
