A non -refundable deposit of $1000 per person would be payable in order to confirm a place on the tour.

Final payment

Final payment would be payable by 02 June 2025.

Single supplement

If you wish to have a guaranteed single room on board the tour a supplement of $1199.00 is payable.

Loyalty discount

We are pleased to offer a loyalty discount of $50.00 per person to those clients who have travelled with us previously (not combinable with any other offers).

Travelling alone?

If you are travelling alone but would be happy to share a twin room, we are happy to room you with another single traveller of the same gender.

Insurance

We suggest you take out insurance in case of cancellation due to illness, medical whilst you are away, and loss of baggage. Check with us on the discounted costs.

Participants must be able to get on and off boats and coaches. There is some walking which involves uneven ground at times.

 

 

Day 1: Saturday August 02: Arrive Cairns (D)

 

We are picked up from our addresses anywhere in the Greater Auckland area and taken to the Auckland airport to join our Tour Manager and fellow travellers on the early morning Air New Zealand direct flight to Cairns.  On arrival we are met and transferred to our hotel.

Double Tree by Hilton hotel is located on the Cairns Esplanade and only steps away from the City Centre. The atrium is designed to represent a mini rainforest surrounded by tropical plants, rock pools and Barramundi fish.  The hotel also features a lobby bar, bottle shop, swimming pool, heated spa, large sundeck, 24 hour room service and hi speed wireless internet access.

You have a free day to enjoy your surrounds and perhaps a wee rest this afternoon after your early start this morning.

Tonight join your Tour Manager for dinner at the hotel and to get to know your fellow travellers.

 

Day 2: Sunday August 03: Cairns City Tour (BSD)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we join our coach for a sightseeing tour of Cairns.  We discover the very best of Cairns as we explore the highlights of the town’s history and heritage.

Enjoy a guided tour of the Cairns Museum, visit St Monicas Cathedral featuring one of the world’s largest themed stained-glass windows and a guided walk-through Cairns Botanic Gardens as we wander through the butterfly lined pathways under the tropical canopy.

This evening enjoy a unique & memorable dining experience at the Cairns Aquarium.  Dine ‘under the pier’ at Dundees Restaurant, featuring the largest saltwater tank within a restaurant in Australia: a stunning 70,000 litre marine aquarium filled with the colourful fish of the Great Barrier Reef.

 

Day 3: Monday August 04: Day at leisure (B)

Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast.

Today is free for you to enjoy sightseeing in this Tropical Paradise. Your Tour Manager will assist you with  any information you need on the     various options available. Dinner tonight is own arrangements. Your Tour Manager will offer suggestions if you need them.

 

Day 4: Tuesday August 05: Kuranda (BLD)

Enjoy breakfast before joining our coach for an amazing full day experience to Kuranda, located in World Heritage Rainforest. Our coach will take us to the  Kuranda Scenic Railway Station which was built in 1891 and still transports tourists to and from Kuranda today!

Admire the lush rainforest views as you chug along through the hills and forests arriving in Kuranda where our first stop is the   award-winning Rainforestation Nature Park, set on 100 acres of wilderness. Learn about the surrounding flora and fauna as you traverse through the jungle in an historic WWII Army Duck, an amphibious vehicle that can travel on land or water. Next, to the Koala & Wildlife Park. Here you can get up close to some of the most incredible Aussie creatures, including cassowaries, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, and koalas.  You can also hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. We then take in the Pamigirri         Aboriginal Experience. Learning about the ancient traditions of Aboriginal Australians is a huge privilege, as it is one of the oldest           surviving cultures in the world!  Watch a special dance performance, see locals play the didgeridoo. Enjoy an Aussie BBQ lunch overlooking the nearby lake.  This afternoon we explore more of Kuranda. Visit Tropical Treats in the Tropical Fruit Orchard to learn about the unique and exotic fruits that grow here. The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is a wonderful place to visit in Kuranda. With around 1,500 butterflies of various shapes, sizes, and colours. You can also stop by the Cairns Birdwing and take a guided tour of the aviary. We return to Cairns via the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, which allows you to soar over the treetops for a bird’s-eye view of the waterfalls and forests of Barron Gorge National Park.  Tonight join your Tour Manager for dinner.

 

Day 5: Wednesday August 06: Port Douglas (BLD)

Port Douglas is a beach resort town on the Coral Sea in tropical far north Queensland. The town is reached by one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal drives – the Captain Cook Highway. Port Douglas is used as a base to visit both the World’s Oldest Tropical Rainforest, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, The Great Barrier Reef.

The main road is lined with boutique shops and restaurants, culminating in the famous Four Mile Beach.

Discover the thrilling world   of Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures where we will also have lunch.  As well as boasting a wildlife park, it’s a working crocodile farm. Get up close and personal with unique local wildlife including the iconic Cassowary and Estuarine Crocodile,

 

Day 6: Thursday August 07: Atherton Tablelands (BLD)

Today travel to the Atherton Tablelands with breathtaking waterfalls, awe-inspiring lakes, lush tropical rainforests and rugged hinterlands. Lots to see today including a visit to Mareeba Heritage Museum Their extensive and diverse displays   provide a window into the history of Mareeba, a lively place representing the growth of an energetic and wild, Australian country town. The town streetscape makes for a great photo opportunity.   We arrive back at the hotel in time to freshen up before dinner.

 

Day 7: Friday August 08: Free day/Dinner Cruise (BSD)

A free day to enjoy personal exploring or shopping.  Tonight, what a perfect end to our time in this tropical paradise. Set sail aboard the luxury Catamaran “Spirit of Cairns” for an evening of dining, entertainment, panorama mountain and city views on the calm waters of Trinity Inlet. Cruise Cairns natural harbour, sail past the waterfront and restaurant precincts and take in the city lights whilst remaining in protected calm waters.

 

Day 8: Saturday August 09: Depart Cairns (B)

We are transferred to the airport and depart Cairns late morning for our direct flight back to Auckland. Passengers from other centres may have different flight times or be transiting in Auckland.
